The management of Isolo LCDA has flagged off an initiative in creating awareness of an ongoing immunization program in the community.
During a walk out at Aswani area on Tuesday, the council informed that the healthcare event was organized to ensure that residents are safe from various dreaded diseases.
The council Chairman, Olasoju Adebayo, alongside the medical staff at the council secretariat, ward health commitee and necessary stakeholders in the community, disclosed that the program, in alliance with the national health goal is centred on eradication of the polio virus, measles, human papilloma virus and yellow fever.
Adebayo said that the council alongside the Lagos State Health District V1 and the Primary Healthcare Board began the exercise on Saturday. He added that the initiative will provide oral polio and measles vaccination for children below 5 years. In addition, the exercise will also offer Human Palliomavirus Vaccine for children of ages 9 to 14 years, as well as yellow fever vaccination for age 9 to 44 years.
The council boss disclosed that the residents can head to the seven Primary Health Centres in the community to get vaccinated. He added:“We have come to inform you about the ongoing mass vaccination exercise against four deadly viruses like Polio, measles, yellow fever and Human Papillomas Virus because your health is important to us.
“The vaccination is to immune you against these diseases and we urge you to make the most of this free exercise. Visit our Health Centres or anywhere you see the designated health officials going about. It’s safe and healthy.
“Please, tell someone to tell somebody that the vaccination is ongoing and it will run through Saturday 2nd November.”
