Following the inauguration of the newly elected councillors of Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Friday, July 30, 2021, the councillor representing Ilasamaja Ward, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi (Alarape), has been elected the 5th council leader.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the council secretariat where the council Legal Officer, Barrister Basirat Sulaimon, led the seven councillors in taking the Oath of Allegiance, Office and Secrecy.
Alarape was elected unopposed to steer the affair of the fifth assembly of the council as pronounced by the council chairman, Hon. Adebayo Olasoju.
The new council leader took over the activities of the hallowed chamber from the Clerk of the House, Mr Bashiru Arowolo and immediately ordered nominations for other principal positions.
Subsequently, Hon. Kanayo Oyedinma Osondu from Okota Ward was unanimously made the Deputy Leader while Hon. Abisodun Odusina-Adeoye (Ishagatedo/Ire-Akari Ward) and Hon. Olanrewaju Kayode (Alagbeji Ward) emerged Majority Leader and Chief Whip respectively.
Hon. Magnus Iheasirim (Ajao Estate) and Hon. Idris Babatunde Amusa were pronounced Deputy Chief Whip and Deputy Majority Leader.
Hon. Yusuf Agbabiaka, a first time councillor representing Apena Ward is the only one without portfolio.
Congratulating the councillors, the council chairman described the new dispensation as a ‘new journey of good governance.’
He explained that the functions of the lawmaking arm cannot be overemphasised in grassroots governance as he urged them to incorporate all and sundry in their respective wards and effectively bridge the gap between the government and their constituents.
He further urged them to give their best in delivering their legislative duties, emphasising that the success of the administration will be determined by their legislative input.
He said: “I also wish to charge you the honourable councillors to put services above self and work hand-in-hand with other arms in achieving a common goal that will lay lasting legacy in our society.”
Speaking on behalf of the lawmaking arm, Alarape appreciated the council boss, management team, party leaders and residents in the council area for their support.
He pledged that the fifth legislative arm under his leadership will work hand-in-hand with the chairman to achieve greater Isolo for the benefits of all residents in the community.
In attendance at swearing-in ceremony were the Vice Chairman, Hon. Shakir Sadiq, the management team of the council led by Mr Samson Akinbami, the Party Caretaker Chairman, Barr. Gani Bello, the former party Chairman Alhaji Wahab Raji, the immediate past Majority Leader of the Council, Hon. Idris Agbabiaka, Former leader of the council Hon. Ismail Aregbe, CDC Chairman Hon. Segun Olatunde, former CDC Chairman Alhaji Fatai Abisiga, ward chairmen other community and religious leaders among others.
