For giving their husbands full supports in running the affairs of the local council and constituency, the Community Development Committee (CDC), Isolo LCDA has honoured the wife of the council Chairman, Mrs Shadiat Ibironke Olaleye, wife of the the Member representing Oshodi-Isolo constituency 2 at the Federal House of Representatives, Mrs. Olufunke Johnson and that of the Member representing the constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs. Roseline Enitan Idimogu, respectively.
The honourees were given awards to to appreciate their supports for their husbands.
The celebration which coincided with the council chairman’s (Hon. Shamsudeen Olaleye’s) 58th birthday held at the council secretariat on Tuesday, April 26, 2021 was graced by political and community leaders.
In his welcome address, the CDC Chairman, Hon. Segun Olatunde, said the awards were in recognition and appreciation of the meritorious supports the ‘women of honour’ have lavished on their husbands in the discharge of their political duties which brought about various development in the community.
He stressed that the virtues of the trio should be emulated by wives of other political office holders in the community.
He said: “We thank God in our constituency that both the honourable member of House of Representatives and honourable member of Lagos State House of Assembly are well compassionate to people by complimenting the works of the Executive Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area whom the two see as a role model for his resilience and restlessness in working tooth and nail in the area of infrastructure, especially rehabilitation of roads, the building of health centres, building of classrooms, supply of reading and study materials to public primary schools, provision of school buses, donations of food items and reading materials to children of SOS village and so on.
“We’ve seen and witnessed the efforts of our honourable Member of House of Representatives facilitating federal projects such as building of classrooms with equipment across the two LCDAs, Isolo and Ejigbo which fall in his constituency. He empowered youths with large numbers of motorcycles for transportation business. He supplied food items to cushion the effects of Covid-19 pandemic. He always supplies food items for festive celebrations and so on.
“Hon. Emeka Idimogu, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, has also done his best to uplift the people of the constituency. With this combined efforts, we realised that they were fully supported by their wives. We decide to celebrate them. As the popular saying, behind every successful man, there is always a woman.”
Olatunde said the awards were given to them as incentive for them to continue their supports for their husbands.
Commending the CDC for the laudable initiative, the Chairman of CDAC, Alhaji Amuzat Azeez, who also graces the occasion said such ceremony was a laudable initiative.
“I feel happy. It’s a welcome development. If people are being rewarded for being active and performing, I think it is nice.
“They (Isolo CDC) are doing well because one of the things I said in my speech is that their ability to identify good performance and to reward such performance is commendable. It is very good to reward hardwork.”
The CDC also donated a birthday cake to the council Chairman which was cut to celebrate the birthday.
The occasion was graced by the lawmaker representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Jude Idimogu and the Chairman of Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC), Alhaji Amuzat Azeez.
Others present at the ceremony include the Council Secretary, Hon. Emmanuel Olojede, Majority Leader, Isolo LCDA, Hon. Idris Agbabiaka, the councillor representing Ajao Estate Ward Hon. Magnus Iheasirim, the first executive chairman of Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Hon. Martins Adegboyega, the former House of Representatives members, Hon. Gbolahan Okuneye and Hon. Akeem Munir, former Executive Secretary of Isolo LCDA, Hon. Segun Jubril, former vice chairman of Isolo LCDA, Balogun Mojeeb Adam, Chairman, Ago-Okota PCRC, Alhaji Musibau Alebiosu and Chairman CDC Ejigbo Mr. Jelil Atiku.
