The Osolo of Isolo, Oba Kabiru Kolawole Alani Agbabiaka and 46 chiefs chiefs-in-councils, community leaders and some political stakeholders in Isolo LCDA have endorsed the former vice chairman of the local council, Hon. Mojeeb Adam as the chairmanship aspirant to contest under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the July 24 local council elections.

Adam, who doubles as the Balogun of Isolo, is to represent the indigenes’ effort to have their son as the next chairman of the local council.

If he succeeds, it would be the first time an indigene will be chairing Isolo LCDA.

Last week, a letter was sent to the party leadership and other political leaders in the community and across the state communicating their endorsement of Adam’s chairmanship aspiration.

Through the letter, the monarch and the chiefs called on all political leaders in the community and state levels to support the candidacy of Mojeeb Adam for the chairmanship in the forthcoming local council election.

The letter titled “Resolution on Hon. Chief Mojeeb Adio Adam as a Consensus Candidate for the Position of Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area in the Forthcoming Local Government Election” dated Friday, April 23, 2021, was signed by the monarch and 46 chiefs and political stakeholders in the community.

It was learnt that the stakeholders had earlier screened six aspirants jostling for the indigenes’ flag before Adam emerged.

The other five aspirants are the former member of Federal House of Representatives; Hon. Akeem Munir; former vice chairman of Isolo LCDA; Hon. Soji Balogun; Hon. Toheeb Aregbe; Hon. Agboola Agbabiaka and the former councillor representing Akinbaiye Ward, Hon. Shakiru Sadiq.

The letter emphasised that the unanimous decision was reached on the need to have a common front and have a son of the soil as the next council chairman as well as to facilitate structured development in Isolo LCDA.

It further stated that the decision of the stakeholders was also influenced by the fact that Adam is a committed and diligent politician and the right person to represent the indigenes having previously served as the Vice Chairman of the council when Mrs. Modupeola Fafowora Oseghale was the Chairman.

Speaking about the letter, Osolo explained that it confirmed that Isolo kingdom and the entire chiefs-in-council as well as political stakeholders and ethnic leaders have thrown their weight behind Adam’s aspiration as he urged the party leadership at the community and state levels to consider their plea.

His words: “You see that letter you’re talking about is from my chiefs, ethnic leaders, the baales and other prominent stakeholders in the community. They really participated in that decision-making process. They did it in order to let the political leaders know that this is what they want; this is whom they want. But there is nothing we can do without the support of the political leaders, Tinubu, Ajomale and many others and that is why they wrote to all of them, to ask for their support; to ask if they can do it. We know the best. Because they believe that they don’t want any other political party to hijack their system and that’s why they are appealing.

I think it will be better if they consider the appeal because since he (Adam) has been ratified by all the stakeholders in the area so, what do you think? It will be better. To me, he is well known, I trust him and he has my support.”
