The incumbent councilor representing Ajao Estate Ward, Hon. Chidiebere Iheasirim (Mustapha) has denied being defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Iheasirim is one of the seven councillors who were elected under the platform of APC in 2017.
The early result of the part’s primary showed that he lost to another aspirant.
Based on the result of the primary which was early released, it was rumoured that the councillor has defected to PDP.
However, he has dispel the rumour, emphasising that nothing about the primary election is confirmed yet and he remains a member of the ruling APC.
Meanwhile, the chairman of PDP, Oshodi-Isolo LGA, Hon. Sunday Olaifa, told to ECHONEWS that his party is hoping to take the windows of opportunity the seeming crisis in the APC has opened up as he revealed that his party is in constant touch with some aggrieved members of the ruling party, adding that the defection of an APC member as rumoured is a ‘work in progress’.
His words: “Well, I will say it is a work in progress, that project you mentioned Chidiebere Mustapha or anybody, I will say it is a work in progress and I will not say no or yes to it. I’m not confirming it. But I can tell you that in every political breeze of information, there could be some level of truth or the other, it may be small but the truth of the matter is I’m saying it is a work in progress.
“I can tell you that on daily basis a lot of people are talking to us, a lot of work is going underground because a lot of people are aggrieved (in APC), a lot of people are not happy in that party. A lot of people are just there and I can tell you and confirm that their sould and minds are not in that party. All this will be put together to the advantage of our party, by our party I mean our candidates because we are out to make good use of every opportunity this situation has created for us, by situation I mean the outcome of the APC’s primary. The irregularities that marred that election has opened windows of opportunity to us and we will not allow it to go wasted. I can assured you. In our party, we are working and we’ve decided to change our strategy, we’ve decided to do more work and talk less while they are talking more and I want to believe that we will come out with a very very good result in that election. We are sensitive to all that’s going on around us and hourly and daily we are working on it to the advantage of our candidates.”
