Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, the Mayoress of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), officially launched the 2024 Trade Fair and Exhibition on Monday, December 2, 2024.

The event, held at the Babajide Sanwo-Olu International Market in Ikosi, is themed “Building Prosperity Through Trade, Innovation, and Partnership”.

The five-day fair aims to provide a vibrant platform for businesses, entrepreneurs, and customers to connect, innovate, and drive economic growth within the community.

Empowering Local Entrepreneurs

In her keynote address, Princess Samiat Bada highlighted the fair’s importance in empowering local entrepreneurs and strengthening the community’s economy.

Drawing from her personal experience as the daughter of a market woman (Iya-Oloja), she shared her deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by traders and small business owners.

“This trade fair is more than an event; it is a statement of our administration’s commitment to investing in our people, their ideas, and their futures. We want every entrepreneur, regardless of their background or resources, to have access to growth opportunities,” the Mayoress said.

A key highlight of the event is its inclusivity. Participation in the trade fair is free, a deliberate decision by the administration to ensure no entrepreneur is excluded due to financial constraints. Princess Bada encouraged vendors to maximize the opportunity to showcase their products, build networks, and create lasting partnerships.

The Mayoress urged visitors and customers to support local businesses and homegrown talents, emphasizing the role of community patronage in fostering sustainable economic development.

The trade fair, which runs until December 6, 2024, is expected to feature a diverse range of products and services, alongside networking opportunities for participants. Princess Bada concluded by reaffirming her administration’s dedication to the progress and prosperity of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA.

“This fair symbolizes our shared vision of growth, innovation, and partnership. Together, we are building a stronger, more prosperous future for our community,” she stated.
