The Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina, has announced plans to equip all 16 primary schools in the local government area with computer units.

The announcement, made on September 17, 2024, comes as part of the chairman’s broader agenda to foster digital literacy and arm students with essential Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills, positioning them for success in an increasingly competitive global workforce.

Hon. Adesina shared the news during a special event where he also distributed free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to 100 students and presented instructional materials to the primary schools within the local government.

Speaking to the Ikorodu News Network (INN), the chairman underscored the critical need for ICT education: “In this digital era, equipping our children with ICT skills is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” he said.

“Our administration is committed to ensuring that our students are not left behind. Providing computers to all primary schools in Ikorodu will lay the foundation for a tech-savvy generation capable of thriving in a digital future.”

Hon. Adesina explained that the initiative aims to introduce students to basic technological skills from an early age, fostering digital literacy that will benefit both their academic and professional futures.

“These children will be exposed to the basics of computing, coding, and the use of digital resources, which will ultimately help them compete on a global scale,” he added.

This move by Ikorodu Local Government is expected to significantly boost the ICT capabilities of its primary school students, preparing them for the challenges of the digital economy.
