The Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS) has inaugurated a new Scholarship Board Committee as part of renewed efforts to deepen educational support for indigenous students of Ikorodu Kingdom.
The inauguration ceremony, held at the IKODASS Secretariat, marked a significant milestone in the association’s long-standing commitment to human capital development and access to education.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of IKODASS, Alhaji Kolawole Fatai Olayiwola (DCIO), announced a major expansion of the association’s scholarship programme, disclosing that the number of beneficiaries has increased from 99 students in the previous year to 250 students in 2026.
He further revealed that one of the beneficiaries is currently enjoying a fully funded Abdul Aziz Iyere Scholarship, a development he described as a clear demonstration of IKODASS’ growing resolve to invest in the educational future of Ikorodu indigenes.
According to the Chairman, the focus of his administration includes improved publicity and communication, strict monitoring of scholarship beneficiaries, regular academic performance reporting, compulsory participation of beneficiaries in programme activities, and the planned distribution of 50 free JAMB UTME forms to eligible indigenous students.
Alhaji Olayiwola stressed that accountability, transparency, and effective communication remain central to the success and sustainability of the scholarship scheme.
He also charged parents and guardians to play their roles by properly supervising their wards, ensuring that funds provided are used strictly for educational purposes. He noted that the scholarships are not handouts but strategic investments aimed at securing the future of Ikorodu.
Members of the newly inaugurated Scholarship Board, while responding, pledged their commitment to diligence, transparency, and effective management of the programme, assuring the association that their collective experience in human development and administration would be deployed to strengthen the scheme.
