The presentation, which marked the official flag-off of the scheme, took place at the Magistrate Hall of the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat and attracted students, school leavers, council officials, and community stakeholders.
Director of Administration and Human Resources, Comrade Jubril Aliu, opened the ceremony by commending AKOD’s visionary approach to leadership, highlighting his commitment to youth development.

In his address, the chairman said the programme was conceived to provide young people with practical work experience that could shape their career paths while building confidence in public service. “This initiative is more than just a job; it is a gateway to learning, service, exposure and discipline,” he said, stressing that Ikeja must remain a model for youth engagement in line with his I.K.E.J.A. Participants underwent training facilitated by Mr. Adedamola Koledoye, who spoke on emotional intelligence, ethical conduct, and data gathering, underscoring the importance of integrity and professionalism.

Speaking on behalf of all beneficiaries, two participants expressed gratitude to the council leadership and pledged to serve diligently during their engagement.

Alongside AKOD, Vice Chairman Hon. Abisola Omisore and the six councillors of Ikeja Local Government handed out the offer letters, reinforcing the administration’s support for inclusive youth empowerment. In her closing remarks, Hon. Omisore urged beneficiaries to take the opportunity seriously and maintain discipline throughout the programme.
