Ijede, Waterways partner Mintech to train hyacinth-preneurs

No fewer than 100 new indigenous entrepreneurs- producers of products from water hyacinth- have been unleashed on the Lagos business scene, thanks to the fruitful collaboration of the Ijede Local Council Development Area, the Lagos State Waterways Authority and Mitimeth Handmade Interior Home Decoration Limited.

The Water Hyacinth Recycling Initiative training, handled by the creative director Mrs. Achenyo Idachaba-Obaro, took four days to train participants in hand-made interior decorations, regular home and office equipment, water-hyacinth -based biochair from regenerative agriculture.

The participants also learnt that the water hyacinth-based biochair can produce charcoal, reduce odour and serve as manure.

A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairperson, Nurat Durojaiye stated that the chairperson, Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba who facilitated the training  patronised the entrepreneurs at the exhibition and presentation of certificates.

The General Manager, Lagos State Waterways Authority, LASWA, who presented the certificates also bought a few exhibited products to encourage the participants.

Other council officials at the training were the vice-chairman, Mr. Femi Kareem, treasurer, Mrs Oluwakemi Ajayi and the head of the department of agriculture and community development, Mr Jelili Balogun.
