IHSOSA Awards ₦1 Million Scholarships to 10 Exceptional Students

The Ikeja High School Old Students Association IHSOSA Global yesterday, 6th of February held its annual scholarship award ceremony to celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of there Alma mater. Bridget Taremotimi, the Global President of IHSOSA, led the event, which recognized students who excelled in their final exams and received admission offers from universities or colleges of education.

This year, 10 deserving students received scholarship awards of 100,000 Naira each. The selection process involved verifying students’ excellent results in their O-levels, JAMB scores, and evidence of admission offers.

The association awarded scholarships of ₦100,000 each to the following 10 exceptional students:

1. Ajibode Yusuf Akanni – Nigeria Maritime University, Delta State, studying Marine Engineering
2. Ajatta Olawale Promise – Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, studying Computer Science
3. Solomon Samuel Amuchechukwu – Lagos State University, Lagos State, studying Education and Mathematics
4. Ilugbade Janet Damilola – Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State, studying Special Education/Economics
5. Olatunji Ayomide Gabriel – Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State, studying Special Education/Social Studies
6. Ahmed Ayisat Wuraola – Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State, studying Special Education/Social Studies
7. Oyemiyi Oluwatoyin Noimat – Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo State, studying Special Education/Economics
8. Bada Isaac Olamomi – Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State, studying Computer Science
9. Ishola Inioluwa Joseph – Federal University of Agriculture, Ogun State, studying Water Resources Management and Agrometeorology
10. Oluwatosis Pelumi Jeremiah – University of Ilesa, Osun State, studying Computer Science

According to the President, the association’s primary goal is to support and encourage students who have demonstrated academic excellence. “We want to acknowledge and appreciate their hard work and dedication,” she said.

IHSOSA will also offers support and guidance to students who may be facing challenges in school. “Our door is open to students because we have all been through the university system,” Taremotimi explained. “We have a community of people who can provide counseling and further assistance if needed.”

According to Opeoluwa Taiwo, the Public Relations Secretary of IHSOSA Global, the program seeks to encourage diligence and a love for reading among students, highlighting the numerous opportunities and benefits available through education.

“Education is the future of Nigeria, and it will bring about robust and economic development to the future space of Nigeria’s economy,” Taiwo emphasized.

He urged the junior class students to develop a strong reading culture. “Reading is light, and it makes you the best. Reading makes you a big contributor to the economy,” he said. “We want you to keep reading and keep increasing your knowledge capacity. With that, the future is bright, and you can become our leaders in Nigeria.”

The scholarship award ceremony serves as a testament to ISOSA’s commitment to empowering and supporting its students. As the association continues to grow and thrive, it remains dedicated to recognizing and rewarding academic excellence.

Mr. Amodu Olumuyiwa represented the TGPS commended the Alumni for their initiative, saying, “We commend the Alumni for coming up with this initiative by giving outstanding students cash support. To the other students, we urge you to study hard and work hard. Give back to your school like these Alumni have done today.”

Mr. Lasisi Muraina, the Principal of Ikeja High School, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to IHSOSA Global for their thoughtfulness in giving back to their alma mater. He urged the students to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, saying, “I encourage you all to do outstandingly well in your academics. Your hard work and dedication will pay off, and you will make us proud.”
