The Homat Multipurpose Hall in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, came alive yesterday as the youths of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) gathered for the Youth Economic Summit, an inspiring event themed “Unlocking and Harnessing Your Potential as a Youth for a Sustainable Future.”
The event, organized under the visionary leadership of the Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), brought together young innovators, professionals, and community stakeholders in a powerful exchange of ideas centered on empowerment, innovation, and purpose-driven leadership.
In his address, Chairman Aroyewun described the summit as a beacon of hope for the LCDA’s next generation of leaders. He emphasized that potential, much like buried gold, only shines when refined through discipline, purpose, and opportunity.
“Our youths are the heartbeat of Igbogbo/Baiyeku. Through focus, mentorship, and the right platforms, they can transform not just their lives but the entire community,” he said.
The chairman highlighted several ongoing initiatives — including the GLORY Agenda, the Mentorship with HOA program, and partnerships with vocational and innovation centers — as strategic interventions designed to equip youths with digital, entrepreneurial, and leadership skills.
The summit featured insightful panel discussions moderated by Mr. Idris Adesina (ADIDO) and headlined by respected professionals such as Dr. Adeleke Dankuwo, Consultant OBGYN and President of the Igbogbo Youth Forum (Host); Dr. Tunde Ajayi, Keynote Speaker and General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA); Mayor Deen Sanwoola, DG of iCare Foundation; Alh. Sulaimon Ayokunle, CEO of Sula Marine; Mr. Timothy Aluko, Program Management Professional; Mrs. Ayomikun Titiloye, FCA, Financial Expert; Hon. Ajao Afeez Onaolapo, Life Coach; and Dr. Ganiyu Abiona Ibikunle, Assistant Director, Department of Education, LASU.
One of the major highlights of the event was the launch of the IYF Education Fund, a visionary initiative designed to promote digital competence, financial literacy, and social entrepreneurship among young people in the LCDA.
In his closing remarks, Omo’ba Aroyewun charged the youths to embrace their potential and take ownership of the future, stressing that the journey to a sustainable tomorrow begins with intentional action today.
“Together, through shared vision, resilience, and determination, we are shaping a brighter and more prosperous Igbogbo/Baiyeku,” he concluded.
The event ended on a high note, with participants expressing renewed optimism and commitment to building a community anchored on innovation, empowerment, and progress.
