Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA receives 2026 appropriation bill, begins legislative scrutiny

The Legislative Council of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area on Monday, December 8, 2025, received the Year 2026 Appropriation Bill from the Executive Chairman, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, during a special plenary session held inside the Council’s Legislative Chamber.
Presenting the document titled “Budget of Inclusive Prosperity,” Aroyewun said the proposal reflects his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance, inclusive development and sustainable community growth. He noted that the budget captures the aspirations of residents while consolidating ongoing progress across infrastructure, education, healthcare, environmental management, youth empowerment and social welfare.
According to him, the 2026 proposal was deliberately structured to promote equitable resource distribution, expand economic participation and strengthen service delivery. He listed priority areas including road rehabilitation, primary healthcare improvement, revenue expansion, enhanced security architecture and the deepening of digital governance.
The presentation marked the formal commencement of the statutory budget cycle. The Legislature affirmed that the bill outlines the administration’s policy direction for the 2026 fiscal year and contains provisions across strategic sectors that will shape development in the LCDA.
Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Princess Banjoko Basirat Adetutu, assured that councillors will subject the document to transparent and rigorous scrutiny. She reiterated the Council’s resolve to ensure that all budgetary allocations align with community needs, adding that the House will continue to uphold its oversight responsibilities in line with due process and relevant laws.
The session was attended by party leaders, including the Apex Leadership under Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, alongside Obas-in-Council, community leaders, political office holders, departmental heads, security agencies and other stakeholders whose presence underscored institutional support for the budget exercise.
The Legislative Council will now proceed to the next phase of the process, which includes committee-level review, stakeholder engagement where necessary, and eventual final consideration at plenary. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to passing a budget that promotes accountability, equitable development and improved service delivery for all residents of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
