Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Deploys NIMC Officials to Ease APC E-Registration Process
By Emmanuel Daniji
Residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA participating in the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) nationwide e-registration exercise can now obtain their National Identification Number (NIN) and complete party registration at the same time, following the deployment of National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) officials to the area.
The APC e-registration exercise commenced in the council area on January 5, with steady participation recorded. However, feedback from the grassroots revealed a major challenge, as many willing residents were unable to proceed due to the requirement of a NIN, which a significant number had yet to secure.
In response, the Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, facilitated the deployment of NIMC officials to strategic locations within the council to ensure that no resident is excluded from the process.
With this intervention, residents can now enroll for their NIN and complete APC registration in one visit. For Igbogbo Central and surrounding communities, NIMC officials are stationed at the Ayegbami area of Igbogbo, while residents of Ibeshe Kingdom can access the service at the APC Party Secretariat in Ibeshe.
The move effectively removes a major barrier to participation, simplifying the registration process and making civic engagement more accessible to residents.
Speaking on the initiative, Chairman Aroyewun said the intervention was aimed at ensuring that every interested resident can register without unnecessary difficulty. He also expressed appreciation to key stakeholders who supported the effort.
He commended Hon. Babajimi Benson (JB), Member of the House of Representatives for Ikorodu Federal Constituency, for facilitating the digital registration machines, and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, for coordinating with NIMC and ensuring the timely deployment of personnel to the LCDA.
The APC nationwide e-registration window is expected to close later this month. Party officials have therefore urged residents who are yet to register to take advantage of the new arrangement by visiting any of the designated centres to enroll for their NIN and complete their registration.
The initiative underscores the council administration’s commitment to inclusive participation and responsive grassroots governance, ensuring that the voices of residents of Igbogbo/Baiyeku are fully represented.
