Ifako Ijaiye Ushers in New Era as Newly Elected Councillors Officially Sworn In

In a colorful and historic event that signaled a fresh beginning in local governance, the Ifako Ijaiye Local Government held the official swearing in ceremony for its newly elected councillors on Monday at the Council’s Multipurpose Hall in Idiagbon.
The gathering, which drew a large audience including political leaders, traditional rulers, community heads, and residents, opened with a heartfelt welcome address from the Council Manager, Alhaji Akeem Adegbenro Adesanya. He praised the peaceful electoral process and extended congratulations to the newly elected councillors.
The Council’s Legal Officer, Barrister Samuel Agunloye, administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy, officially inaugurating a fresh legislative team entrusted with driving grassroots development and community representation.
List of Newly Inaugurated Councillors:
• Honorable Mudasiru Jelili Adetunji – Ward A
• Honorable Sholola M. Oluwole – Ward B
• Honorable Aregbesola Safiat Ajoke – Ward C1
• Honorable Adenekan Ibrahim Owolabi – Ward C2
• Honorable Adegbayibi Adedeji John – Ward D
• Honorable Adebo Samuel Kayode – Ward E
• Honorable Yekeen Akeem A. – Ward F
Demonstrating continued leadership and commitment, Executive Chairman Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, who also serves as Secretary of the Conference of 57 Chairmen in Lagos State, formally introduced the new councillors to the public. He reaffirmed his administration’s firm dedication to advancing the democratic mandate through the HEEDS Plus Agenda, which emphasizes Health, Education, Empowerment, Development, and Security.
During the ceremony, Prince Hamzat also announced the first major appointments of his second term in office, which take immediate effect:
• Alhaji Mustapha Abolaji – Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman
• Alhaji Abdullateef Salam – Chief Press Secretary
The atmosphere was electric as attendees celebrated a seamless fusion of tradition and progress. Distinguished guests included Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awoniyi Akerele, Vice Chairman of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government; Honorable Benjamin Olabinjo (BAO), Member of the Federal House of Representatives; Honorable Temitope Adewale (JAH), Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly; Deacon Banjo Omole, APC Chairman, Ifako Ijaiye; members of the APC Stakeholders Forum; traditional rulers; CDA executives; and various youth and women groups.
The occasion highlighted the vitality of grassroots democracy and renewed optimism for a more inclusive and progressive local administration in Ifako Ijaiye.
