Versatile Nigerian actor Ibrahim Chatta is currently trending after reports surfaced revealing his impressive earnings in the film industry.
Veteran actor Mustapha Bakare Otolo made the disclosure in a viral interview, where he discussed the financial challenges faced by older actors in producing cinema-standard movies.
According to Otolo, while many veteran actors earn between ₦250,000 and ₦300,000 per movie, Chatta’s fee has risen significantly with the star now charging ₦5 million per role.
“If Ibrahim Chatta appears on a movie set, he has been paid ₦5 million. That’s the amount he currently charges. He is the highest-paid actor presently. So my point is that he can do up to 20 jobs in a month,” Otolo said.
He added that he recently featured Chatta in his movie “Jigi”, shot in Ogbomoso, noting that younger actors like Chatta now dominate high-budget productions while veterans struggle with limited opportunities.
Otolo explained that the pay gap highlights why it has become increasingly difficult for older actors to fund or produce cinema films in Nigeria.
