The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has taken another bold step toward accountability and efficient governance with the successful hosting of its 2026 Annual Procurement Retreat, themed “Strategic Procurement Plan through Collaboration to Develop Actionable Goals for Year 2026.”
The retreat, held at the Secretariat Hall, Igando-Oloja, along the Lekki–Epe Expressway, brought together heads of departments, procurement officers, and top government functionaries for a deep dive into strategies that promote sustainable procurement and transparent public service delivery.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Vice Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, who represented the Chairman (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa said the retreat was designed to strengthen collaboration among departments and service providers to ensure efficient planning and execution of procurement activities in the coming year.
“Our objective is to build a robust framework that guarantees transparency, consistency, and reliability in the delivery of goods and services to our people,” Olatunji said.
He further stressed that Ibeju-Lekki’s procurement strategy would continue to align with the Lagos State Government’s vision of good governance and sustainable development.
The retreat featured a presentation from Deputy Director Subair of the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (LSPPA), who served as the guest speaker and facilitator.
He described strategic procurement as a forward-looking, organisation-wide approach that goes beyond mere purchasing to drive innovation, efficiency, and value for money.
“When procurement is handled strategically, it becomes a powerful tool for reducing costs, mitigating risks, and achieving long-term sustainability,” Subair explained.
He emphasised the importance of nurturing strong supplier relationships and aligning procurement goals with broader development objectives to gain a competitive advantage and ensure business continuity.
Participants engaged in an interactive question-and-answer session, where practical issues surrounding procurement regulations, supplier management, and value optimisation were discussed. The session offered an opportunity for officials to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of best practices in public procurement.
