Ibeju-Lekki LG Deploys Security Personnel To Public Schools For Enhanced Safety
By Emmanuel Daniji
In a proactive move to protect pupils and staff, the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government has begun deploying trained security operatives to public primary and secondary schools across the area.
The council chairman, Mr Sesan Olowa, announced the initiative, stating that it is a direct response to growing nationwide concerns over school safety.
A combined team of security personnel drawn from the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN), the Ibeju-Lekki Community Corps (Folumo), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Forest Security Service has been posted to schools. The operatives are stationed at school gates, inside the premises, and in surrounding areas to deter threats and ensure rapid response to any incident.
Chairman Olowa urged school administrators, parents, and residents to collaborate fully with the deployed personnel by promptly reporting any suspicious activities or persons around school environments.
“We remain committed to the safety and well-being of our children. This deployment is part of broader efforts to create a secure atmosphere conducive to learning,” he said.
The council has also launched a detailed security audit of all public primary and secondary schools to identify vulnerabilities and address them comprehensively.
