The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government in Lagos State has launched the registration of residents for the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme — an initiative designed to support vulnerable households and foster social inclusion under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The registration exercise, which officially began on October 7, will run through October 14, with Ward B serving as the pilot phase before the rollout extends to other wards in the coming weeks.
Speaking on the initiative, the Council Chairman, Hon. Sesan Olowa, reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to ensuring that indigent families within the community benefit from the federal government’s social protection schemes. He described the CCT programme as “a direct response to the economic challenges facing many families,” adding that the council’s role is to make the process smooth, transparent, and inclusive.

Registration is being conducted across designated centres in all wards of Ibeju-Lekki, with residents expected to attend on their assigned dates. The exercise is completely free, and applicants are required to present basic personal details such as:
Full name, address, and date of birth
Valid identification (Voter’s Card, LASRRA, NIN, or BVN)
Family size, income level, and occupation
Health or disability status
Details about their housing and living conditions

Olowa assured residents that the process will be efficient and fair, stressing that all data collected will undergo verification to ensure only genuinely eligible individuals are included.
“This initiative is not just about cash transfers; it’s about restoring confidence and giving vulnerable citizens a sense of belonging in our community,” he said.

The exercise in Ibeju-Lekki is part of the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) coordinated by the Federal Government to cushion the effects of economic reforms and uplift low-income families.

Earlier this year, Lagos State commenced a state-wide registration drive for poor and vulnerable households through its Single Social Register (LASSR), managed by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget. This register is being integrated into the national database to ensure that eligible residents across local councils, including Ibeju-Lekki, can benefit from the CCT initiative.

When the Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer was launched nationally, over 283,000 Lagos residents were earmarked to receive ₦25,000 monthly stipends to cushion rising living costs. Ibeju-Lekki’s rollout marks a crucial step in ensuring that rural and suburban communities are not left behind.
The council had earlier hinted that up to 4,000 residents could benefit from the scheme in its first phase, a figure expected to grow as the registration expands.

The local government has urged all eligible residents — particularly women, the elderly, and persons with disabilities — to seize the opportunity to register during the allotted timeframe.

“This is a lifeline for our people,” Olowa emphasised. “We are determined to ensure that every qualifying household is captured so that no one is left behind in this Renewed Hope journey.”
With the CCT registration underway, Ibeju-Lekki positions itself at the forefront of social intervention delivery in Lagos, turning the Renewed Hope vision into a tangible reality for its people.
