The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area (ILLG) of Lagos State has opened a competitive bidding process for the supply of vehicles to enhance administrative efficiency and service delivery across the fast-growing region.

Under the leadership of (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the local council announced the commencement of an open tender process, calling on qualified suppliers and contractors to submit bids for the procurement of official and operational vehicles.

The initiative, officials say, forms part of a broader strategy to improve mobility, logistics, and governance efficiency in one of Lagos State’s most economically strategic districts.
According to the council’s procurement notice, the bid covers multiple vehicle categories tailored to different operational needs. These include:

Eleven (11) Toyota Highlanders (2016–2018 models) for Royal Fathers and traditional institutions;
One (1) Toyota Hilux for departmental use; and
One (1) 32-seater Toyota Coaster bus (2016 model) for staff transportation.

In line with Lagos State’s procurement laws and transparency standards, all interested bidders are required to meet strict eligibility criteria. These include registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), presentation of a valid Tax Clearance Certificate for the past three years, evidence of VAT registration and remittances, and proof of financial and technical capacity — including references from reputable financial institutions and records of previous government or corporate projects.

The Procurement Office of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, located at the council secretariat in Igando-Oloja, will issue tender documents upon payment of a non-refundable processing fee. Bidders must submit their completed documents in two sealed envelopes, clearly stating the lot number and company name. Submissions are due no later than 12:00 noon on October 20, 2025.

Speaking on the development, a senior official at the local government secretariat emphasized that the open bidding process was designed to promote fairness and accountability in the allocation of government contracts.

“This is a transparent process that reflects the administration’s commitment to good governance and fiscal responsibility,” the official stated. “Every qualified contractor has a fair opportunity to participate.”

The vehicle acquisition drive is expected to strengthen the council’s internal logistics, improve accessibility to rural communities, and facilitate smoother administrative operations across departments.

As Ibeju-Lekki continues its transformation into a major industrial and commercial hub — home to key projects such as the Lekki Deep Sea Port and Dangote Refinery — the council says it remains committed to modernizing its operations and ensuring effective governance that meets the demands of its growing population.
