‘I Was Reckless’ — Bella Shmurda Opens Up on Past Spending Habits
Afrobeats singer Bella Shmurda has revealed that he nearly went bankrupt due to an extravagant lifestyle and poor financial decisions.
Speaking in an interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the music star admitted that reckless spending and trying to maintain a flashy image significantly drained his resources.
According to him, he not only spent heavily on unnecessary luxury items but also took on the responsibility of funding the lifestyles of several friends.
“I used to have a lot of money but I rushed things. I wish I was wise then. I was just buying things extravagantly, things I eventually had no need for,” he said.
Bella Shmurda disclosed that at one point, he was accommodating up to 10 friends and trying to maintain a certain lifestyle around them, including buying multiple cars just to move around together.
Reflecting on the experience, he described his past actions as reckless, noting that it forced him to rethink how he manages money.
He added that he is now more intentional with his finances, carefully considering every decision as new income comes in.
The singer also advised fellow artistes and fans to be financially disciplined, warning that poor money management can quickly lead to hardship despite earning well.
