Nigerian streamer and skitmaker, Caterefe, has recounted the tragic killing of his father, a police officer who was murdered by armed robbers dressed in military camouflage during a highway robbery incident in Ogun State.

Speaking on a recent episode of The Honest Bunch Podcast, Caterefe explained that his father had finished his duty shift and was travelling home. He decided to board a police vehicle heading towards the nearest bus stop close to their residence.

According to him, the journey took a devastating turn when the vehicle encountered a traffic jam caused by an ongoing robbery operation on the highway. Believing the men in military camouflage were security personnel, his father and his colleagues stepped out of the vehicle to assess the situation.

However, the attackers allegedly opened fire immediately upon identifying them in police uniform.

Caterefe said the trauma remains especially painful because footage of the incident was broadcast publicly, and a video showing his father’s lifeless body is still available online.

“I saw my dad’s lifeless body on the ground in his police uniform,” he said during the interview, describing how difficult it was to come to terms with the loss.

Despite the tragedy, Caterefe reflected on how the experience shaped his resilience. He explained that he has endured significant hardship in life and remains determined to continue pursuing his career.

“I am not a stranger to pain. I have gone through a lot of pain. There is no pain that will make me stop my grind,” he added.

His comments have sparked conversations about police safety, highway insecurity, and the long-term emotional impact of violent crime on families.
