LASG ASSURES CIPM OF CONTINUOUS PARTNERSHIP FOR CAPACITY BUILDING

The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro has assured the management team of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) of his continuous collaboration in the area of human capacity development.

Agoro stated this on Wednesday at the 55th Anniversary and Opening Ceremony of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), with the theme: “Sustainable HR, Business and National Development”, held at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.

He said, “I make bold to say that Lagos State Public Service will continue with its beneficial handshake by collaborating with the Institute in the area of capacity building of its HR Practitioners, while we continue to encourage and give necessary support to more Officers in the Administration and Human Resource Cadre to register and be inducted into membership of the Institute, going forward”.

He stated that the partnership with the institute by the Lagos State Public Service has remained very strong and beneficial, as the State Government and staff in the Administration and Human Resource Cadre are much aware of the importance and benefits of professionalising the Cadre, adding that it has given rise to the number of Officers in the Administration and Human Resource Cadre that have completed their registration and can now be bold to claim membership of the institute.

The HOS affirmed that this year, the intensified initiative of the CIPM Alausa Chapter spurred its members to encourage the first en masse self-sponsored Certification Programme in demonstration of its support for the professionalisation of the Administration and Human Resource Cadre and a total of 143 Officers were inducted into membership of the Institute in September, 2023.

He maintained that the Lagos State Public Service as a foremost Public Service in Nigeria, currently boasts of about 505 staff in the Administration and Human Resource Cadre who are members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, as the figure represents about 29% of the total number of staff currently in the Cadre.

“As of today, I can reliably inform you that the Lagos State Public Service through CIPM Alausa Chapter, is assiduously working on getting another set of Officers in the Administration and Human Resource Cadre inducted into the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria”.

Appreciating the management of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria for sustaining its core objectives as an umbrella Association for the Practitioners of Human Resource, Agoro averred that they have been living up to expectations in the development and maintenance of unbeatable standards of professional competence, as well as ensuring that the management of human resource in Nigeria, both in public and private sectors, conform with the best professional practices and standards.

He equally congratulated the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute in the person of Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, FCIPM, FNLI and his wonderful management team for the efforts put together towards organising another impactful Annual International Conference, while congratulating the Institute for a successful outing.

Earlier in his welcome address, the President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Mr. Olusegun Mojeed, FCIPM, FNLI, appreciated everyone for identifying with the institute in the area of professionalism and raising the bar.

“The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), is the global industry’s standard in privacy programme management, which supports mastering the skills to establish, maintain and manage a privacy programme across all stages of its operational lifecycle”.

He emphasised that the Institute develops and maintains a high standard of professional competence and ensures that the management of human resources in Nigeria, both in public and private sectors, conforms with the best professional standards.
