Grange School emerged overall champions at the 2nd Quomodo Inter-Schools Swimming Grand Slam, hosted at the Ikoyi Club Swimming Section, after a weekend of spirited competition that brought together over 150 young swimmers from seven leading schools.
The event, sponsored by Quomodo Systems Africa, saw Grange School dominate the scoreboard with 517 points, ahead of Children’s International School with 389 points, while Corona Schools placed third with 250.5 points.
Chairman of the Ikoyi Club Swimming Section, Akinbulejo Onabolu, hailed the standard of competition, describing it as evidence of Nigeria’s rising prospects in the sport.
“We have talents in this country and I am proud to say that,” Onabolu said. “I wish we could have more sponsors to emulate what Quomodo are doing so that we can keep the young ones busy and further expose them so that they can compete well with their counterparts from any part of the world.”
The competition featured swimmers as young as six years old from Avi-Cenna International School, Children’s International School, Corona Schools, Grange School, Greensprings School, Lagoon & Whitesands Schools, and Meadow Hall School.
There was fun, excitement, and determination on display as the children competed across multiple categories in boys’ and girls’ events.
General Manager, Finance, Quomodo Systems Africa, Olufunke Preghafi, said the tournament was a reflection of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and youth development.
“This is one of our key CSR projects this year,” Preghafi explained. “Swimming builds confidence, strength, and resilience qualities children can carry into every area of life. That’s why we are proud to support this initiative.”
With enthusiasm high and performances impressive, the competition further cemented its growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s premier grassroots swimming platforms.
