Chairman Ejigbo LCDA, Hon. Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello

The Senior Special Assistant to the Chairman of Ejigbo LCDA , Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) on Indigenous Matters, Hon. Wasiu Ibrahim (WOI), has explained the importance of effective communication used by his principal to create cordial relationship between his government and the indigenous people of the council area.

According to him, the Obe led administration, through his office, bridged all possible gaps that could cause rancour between the indigenous people and the local government by constantly interacting with them in the language they understand.

He noted that the government has always consulted their family heads on the matters concerning them and their communities before making decisions.

He further noted that a greater percentage of their requests are considered by the government for the development of their communities.

Wasiu noted that the family heads had on many occasions served as advisors that had aided his office on the best approach to reach out to indigenous people within Ejigbo community.

However, he frowned against the perception of some people condemning the indigenous elders as illiterate, saying their contributions towards the development of the community has to be acknowledged.

He said relating with them has helped his office in relaying useful information to their communities, perceiving their support as the influence of their life experience and knowledge of indigenous traditions as elders.
