Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Badagry Federal Constituecy, Sesi Whingan, has expressed worry over the dilapidated condition of the Air Force Base in Badagry.
Whingan while on visit at the premises situated in Ahanve area of the community, decried the collapsed Air Force Hospital which according to him needs urgent intervention.
The House of Rep member stated that the visit was aimed to assess the severe damage caused by flooding and poor construction at the base. He noted that several of the buildings had collapsed due to poor construction and inadequate drainage system.
He furthermore disclosed that the unwanted condition has hampered operations at the military base, leaving many of it’s parts uninhabitable as well as affecting the wellbeing of the personnels.
Whingan promised to take the matter to relevant authorities to ensure that a full-scale rehabilitation is put in place.
He said, “We cannot allow those who serve our nation in uniform to live and work in such conditions.
“I will do everything within my capacity to ensure that the Nigerian Air Force base here in Badagry receives the attention it deserves.
“There will be an improvement in the welfare of military personnel in Badagry alongside provision of modern infrastructure that supports both operational readiness and healthcare delivery.”
