HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE ON ENVIRONMENT VISITS LAGOS WATER CORPORATION
The Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Environment, led by Hon. Adebola Shabi, visited the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) headquarters on Monday, October 13, 2025. The purpose of the visit was to conduct an oversight and on-the-spot assessment of the Corporation’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative.
During the meeting, Hon. Shabi emphasized the need for adequate awareness and sensitization of the PPP initiative at the grassroots level. He stated, “The people have given us their mandate, and it’s our responsibility to ensure they are adequately taken care of and considered in any government plans, programs, or initiatives like the PPP.”
The Managing Director of LWC, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani, expressed gratitude to the Assembly members for their support and acknowledged the importance of keeping the public informed about the Corporation’s initiatives. He highlighted the progress made by LWC, attributing it to the support of the Honourable members of the House Committee on Environment.
Engr. Tijani, through the Head of Transformation and Strategy Department, Engr. Titilola Bright-Oridami, presented slides explaining the level of awareness created on the concessioning initiative and other expected outcomes.
Other members of the Committee, including Hon. Ogundipe Stephen and Hon. Oluwa Sobur, also contributed to the discussion. Hon. Ogundipe emphasized the need for LWC to provide adequate potable water supply and educate the public on the production process. Hon. Sobur described the concessioning initiative as a turning point in the State’s water supply and urged that all stakeholders be carried along to avoid resistance.
The Committee members commended the Managing Director of LWC for the initiative and prayed for its success in improving the water supply in the State.
