Alimosho Local Government Chairman, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, has taken a major step toward fulfilling his campaign promises by distributing 600 free GCE forms to underprivileged students within the council area.
The distribution event took place at the council Secretariat Hall on Thursday, 28 August 2025, with beneficiaries, parents, guardians, and party leaders in attendance.
In his speech, Hon. Akinpelu highlighted that the initiative reflects his administration’s WISE AGENDA, which focuses on Wellbeing and Security, Innovation and Culture, Sustainability and Inclusion, and Economic Growth and Mobility. He explained that the selection of beneficiaries involved input from various stakeholders, including the Christian Association of Nigeria, League of Imams, Community Development Committees, artisans, market leaders, and others.
The Chairman noted that the initiative is intended to support both students and their parents, who may face challenges in affording the GCE forms. To further aid students’ academic success, Hon. Akinpelu announced plans to introduce weekly tutorial sessions and guidance programmes.
One of the beneficiaries, Miss Adeleye Bolanle Abike, expressed her gratitude and promised that the students would strive to make the Chairman proud. The forms were formally presented by the Chairman alongside Vice Chairman Hon. Francis Adebisi, legislative leader Hon. Semiu Rasheed, other councillors, and Council Manager Dr. Banjoko Idowu.
