HITech opens Akinlawanson Street to commuters

The link road between Afariogun and Oshodi-Apapa Express Way, which was barricaded to give way for the reconstruction of the express way at Charity bus stop, has been finally opened to motorists.
While the construction was ongoing on the express way, commercial bus drivers turned the street to a garage and traders opened makeshift kiosks to sell alcohol drinks.
The situation, according to the chairman of Isokan Development Association (CDA), Mr. Kazeem Fawole, posed insecurity to the community as miscreants started gathering on the street to drink alcohol.
Fawole said this prompted the community to write to the contractor (Hitech) to decongest the street by removing the barricade.
Speaking with ECHONEWS, the CDA chairman thanked HITech for heeding their plea, noting that the community is now free of miscreants.
He said: “We noticed that some miscreants had been gathering and would soon be causing troubles in the community. And since the Charity express service lane has been completed, we wrote to the company to remove the barricade so that the busses would not be parking on the street again.
“We therefore appreciate the company for responding to our plea instantly. Now we will be able to live in peace. Those guys have already been causing troubles in the community but now, they don’t have any hideout here again.”
With the opening of the street, commercial busses would not be able to park at Charity to load and offload passengers any longer; they can only go through Charity to Oshodi bus stop.
