The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN), Ejigbo Area Council has admonished the Muslim faithful to always be of good character in the society, urging them to take responsibility for their actions.
In a message to commemorate the the New Islamic Year 1442AH, the MSSN Amir, Ejigbo Area Council, Mallam Abdulfattah Akinosho, said the commencement of the New Year known as Hijrah signifies positive change in one’s way of life.
According to him, it is the period when every individual and the government rethinks and champions new causes, re-strategise on new ways of doing things for better results.
His words: “As the new year starts, it is important for us to remember the sacrifice made by the early Muslims when they left their wealth and families in Makkah and migrated to Yathrib (later known as Madinah-tun-Nabi). It was hard for them but, they believed in the Oneness of Allah and they were sure He would reward them accordingly. And indeed Allah protected them and rewarded them with tranquility and victory.Hijrah symbolises migration, not just from our homes or lands but also from many other things especially from the evils plaguing our world; our own excesses and the sins that we have been indulging in.We therefore advise our brethren to migrate from what is bad to what is good. Migrate from abandoning Solah to establishing it. From telling lies to speaking the truth always. From being wicked to being kind and helping others, etc. We ask Allah to make the new year a fruitful one for us.
Congratulating the new Amir of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN, Lagos State Area unit, Mallam Miftaudeen Thanni, Akinosho prayed for wisdom, knowledge and understanding needed in order to move the ummah forward.
