Harmony Chidi Paints Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup With Goals

The star player of the just concluded 2023 Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup (ICMC), Harmony Chidi shared similar figures and statistics with Ifeanyi Chiejine who the tournament was established to honour.

The Imo Striker Queens forward rounded up the tournament with four goals as her team thrashed Giant Empress 6-1 in the final match at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, Delta state.

She won the top goal scorer award after scoring 14 goals in six games.

The 14 goals she scored at the competition is the number of Chiejine’s jersey number during her playing days.

Ifeanyichukwu Chiejine wears two jersey numbers for club and country (Nigeria).

The second similarity between Harmony and Chiejine was that both wore jersey number 8.

“There is nothing much to the magic of scoring many goals but the grace of God,” She said.

“I always believe in myself and God that when I enter the field, no matter how hard it might be, I will conquer.”

With her goal-scoring prowess, she hopes to play for the national team and team in Europe in the future.

“I want to play for the national team at U20 level, Super Falcons, and travel outside the country.

“I prefer to play for Lyon because I like the way they play, cherish them a lot, follow them, and wish to be there soon.”
