Hamzat Bags Lagos Rural Development Impact Award

In yet another testament to his outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to community transformation, the Executive Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH), has been honoured with the Rural Development Impact Award at the prestigious Lagos Grassroots Achievers Award 2025.
The award ceremony, held yesterday Friday 10th October, 2025 at the Anchor Event Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, celebrated exceptional council chairmen, party leaders, institutions, and agencies whose developmental strides continue to shape Lagos State’s grassroots advancement.
With the theme, “Strengthening Grassroots Leadership for Sustainable Development”, the event featured an inspiring audio-visual storytelling documentary, a compendium unveiling, and a glamorous award/gala night that highlighted the milestones of effective governance at the local level.
Delivering the keynote addresses were Comrade Ayodeji Adewale, APC Lagos State Organizing Secretary, and Hon. Babatunde Johnson, former Executive Chairman of Orile-Agege LCDA, who both emphasized the need for visionary and accountable leadership as the driving force for sustainable community growth across the state.
Hon. Kolawole Fasusi (Bachel), who represented Executive Chairman Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, received the award on behalf of his boss. In his brief remarks, he expressed profound gratitude to the organizers for recognizing the impactful initiatives of UAH’s administration in Ifako-Ijaiye. He noted that the award serves as further motivation for the council boss to continue advancing developmental projects that directly improve the lives of residents.
He dedicated the honour to the people of Ifako-Ijaiye, describing them as “the true partners in progress whose support and cooperation make every achievement possible.”
The Chairman, Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat, was ably represented at the event by Hon. Kolawole Fasusi (Bachel), alongside Hon Waheed Agbeniga, Hon Afeez Mustapha, Deji Ogundimu, among other aides and officials from the Infomation Unit of the Council who graced the occasion on his behalf.
