The ongoing controversy surrounding the authenticity of the iPhone 17 Pro Max in Nigeria has taken a new twist after popular TikTok content creator GehGeh expressed regret over spending millions of naira on the device.

In a viral TikTok video posted on Saturday, GehGeh opened up about his disappointment, saying he felt deceived by conflicting reports over whether the phones currently circulating in Nigeria are genuine.

“At this point in time, I don’t want to pretend again. I regret why I carry my millions to buy this phone. Every day I wake up, I cry, I weep deep inside me,” he said.

The influencer lamented that buyers were now being forced to defend their purchases as even experts cannot clearly distinguish between the alleged authentic iPhone 17s and rebranded older models.

“Now, you know the pain of buying something, you go come dey explain bro, na the original be this one, because nobody knows the difference between the original one and the fake one,” he said.

GehGeh explained that his decision to purchase the new iPhone was driven by status and social perceptio, rather than necessity.

“The reason why I buy this phone is because as you see am for my hand, you go know say bro, na millions dey him hand,” he said, noting that the name “iPhone 17” carried symbolic prestige.

Comparing it with his older device, the content creator admitted he preferred the comfort and functionality of his iPhone 16, which he described as more user-friendly.

“My brother, I regret buying the 17 Pro Max. The phone, it’s not even comfortable for the hand,” he said while holding his iPhone 16. “See how it’s flexible for my hand, even with a pouch. But see the television that I carry for hand.”

The video has since sparked widespread debate online, with many users sharing similar frustrations and questioning the *legitimacy of imported iPhone 17 models currently being sold across the country.
