GAC Wades Into Sanwo-Olu/Obasa’s Row
The Governance Advisory Council in Lagos has waded into the row between the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Speaker of the state house of assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
During a meeting at the Lagos House, Marina on Wednesday, it was gathered that the two heads of the executive and legislative arms of government were urged to embrace peace so that governance will not suffer.
Recall that the assembly rejected 17 out of the 39 nominees that the governor submitted for commissioners and special advisers.
This action as expected infuriated the governor and some of his allies. A group of civil society organisations also threatened to stage a protest against the assembly.
The speaker reacted, stating that the assembly would not be intimated for doing what is right.
In its capacity to always enable harmonious relationship in the state, GAC summoned the two leaders to a meeting on Wednesday.
At the meeting were Cardinal Odunmbaku; the former state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Otunba Henry Ajomale; former deputy governor, Mrs Sarah Sosan; the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Mudashiru Obasa; Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; GAC members, former deputy governor Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire; APC Chairman, Hon Cornelius Ojelabi and Dr Abayomi Finnih, after a meeting at the Lagos House, Marina, today, Wednesday, 30 August, 2023.
