GAC Members Clash Over Obasa’s Impeachment Process

Recent developments surrounding the impeachment of former Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa have sparked disagreements among members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the state’s apex advisory body.

It was reported that Senators Musliu Obanikoro and Anthony Adefuye expressed opposing views regarding the impeachment process and Obasa’s removal.

Senator Adefuye argued that Obasa was unlawfully removed from his position, suggesting that proper procedures were not followed during the impeachment process.

In contrast, Senator Obanikoro rebutted this claim, stating that the removal adhered to constitutional guidelines and describing Adefuye’s statement as “careless.”

As tensions surrounding Mudashiru Obasa’s impeachment continue, GAC Secretary Mutiu Are has stated that the crisis within the Lagos State House of Assembly will be addressed through a “family way,”.

Meanwhile, a group known as the Lovers of Lagos has called for the arrest of the embattled former speaker for allegedly occupying the official residence of the Speaker.
