Prince Tajudeen Olusi, a member of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the apex leadership group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, has said that for the government to meet up with its responsibility, Nigerians must pay their taxes and duties regularly.
Olusi disclosed this at a reception to mark the inauguration of the 10th Lagos State House of Assembly, which held in Eti-Osa Constituency 02 and sponsored by Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu, representative of the area in the assembly.
Addressing newsmen, Olusi emphasized the need for Nigerians to pay their taxes to help the government discharge it’s responsibility.
According to him, we should give the present administration our support and loyalty. Nigerians should be ready to discharge their responsibilities on the payment of taxes and duties.
“I have listened to people on radio and television asking the government to do this and that. One thing is missing, the responsibility of ordinary Nigerians. They need to discharge their duties in the payment of their taxes and duties.
“When I became a member of the Federal House of Representatives many years ago, we went on a visit to the United Kingdom and officials of the embassy went for shopping with us, and when it was time to pay for the items that we bought, I noticed that the sales boy became furious, when the officials paid and was trying to he smart. He wondered why he didn’t want to pay taxes as expected. That showed that they see payment of tax as important. We Nigerians should follow that standard,” he added.
The veteran politician then asked Nigerians to supply any information that could help the security agencies to end insecurity in the state.
“People should supply information that will improve security of lives and properties in the state,” he said.
Prince Olusi however, described Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu as a diligent and excellent member of the Assembly.
Also speaking, a leader of the APC in Eti-Osa Ikoyi/Obalende, Chief Olawale Edun assured Nigerians that President Bola Tinubu would fulfill his promises of a “Renewed Hope” for Nigerians.
His words: “The hope is renewed and assured. As you can see, the President is a man of his words. The things he says he will do in his action plans, campaign and campaign promises, he is already putting them into action and Nigerians are responding positively.
“The international community is responding positively and he is making major economic moves. We have seen him correcting the anomalies in the petroleum subsidy regime.
“He did not forget the poor and vulnerable, so he is coming up with interventions to ease the pains of fuel subsidy removal. We will have a better Nigeria under Tinubu,” he said.
