Thick plumes of smoke quickly rose above the area, drawing attention from motorists and residents.

Responders from the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) arrived promptly, with teams from both Ikorodu and Alausa fire stations working in tandem to bring the situation under control.

Their intervention successfully confined the fire to the tanker and a single dispensing pump, preventing it from spreading to the main filling station building, the mart, underground storage tanks, and an attached gas skid.

Authorities confirmed that no lives were lost and no injuries were reported in the emergency.

Deputy Controller General of LSFRS, Olajide Ogabi, commended the swift actions of the fire crews, noting that the coordinated response was crucial in averting a larger disaster. He urged petroleum marketers and filling station operators to enforce safety protocols diligently to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Ogabi also reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and the environment in Lagos State, stressing that preparedness and compliance with safety standards remain the best defense against fire emergencies.
