Residents of Alimosho Local Government Area have entered the festive season with renewed excitement following a wide ranging Yuletide outreach rolled out by the council chairman, Hon. Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, in a move many describe as people focused and inclusive.

Across communities in the local government, support packages were extended to Community Development Associations, the Community Development Committee, youth groups, religious organisations, traditional institutions and other key stakeholders, ensuring that no segment of the council area was left out of the celebration.

For many residents, the gesture reflects the fulfilment of campaign promises made by the chairman, who had pledged to run an administration built around inclusiveness, transparency and the welfare of the people. Workers within the local government say the impact of the current leadership is already being felt, citing improved staff welfare, better training opportunities and enhanced emoluments, changes they note were long overdue.

Speaking on the Yuletide initiative, Hon. Akinpelu reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots governance, stressing that public office is first and foremost about service to the people.

“Government exists to serve the people. From the onset, we promised an administration that listens, cares and delivers. This Yuletide package is our way of appreciating all stakeholders who continue to support our vision for a united and progressive Alimosho,” he said.

Beyond the council workforce, the broader Alimosho community is experiencing its first festive season under the Akinpelu led administration, with residents welcoming what has become popularly known as “Kọ́sẹ̀lérí,” a show of generosity many say signals a shift from past practices. The initiative has been widely praised as a sign of responsive leadership and a fresh approach to local governance, summed up by the slogan “same people, new experience.”

Residents have also shared personal stories of how the gesture has lifted their spirits during the holiday period. Mrs. Funke Adeyemi, a resident of the area, said the outreach made her feel seen and valued.

“This is the first time we are truly feeling the presence of the local government during the festive season. The chairman has shown that leadership is about empathy and action, not just words,” she said.

As goodwill messages and prayers continue to flow in from community leaders, faith based groups and residents, many believe the Yuletide outreach has set a new benchmark for grassroots leadership in Alimosho. With growing confidence in the administration, residents say they are hopeful that the people centered approach will translate into sustained development and improved living conditions in the years ahead.
