FCMS LASU Mourns Passage of Oso
The pioneer set of Lagos State University (LASU) Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) has described as great loss the sudden death of Professor Lai Muraina Oso.
Oso died last week in a road crash at Abraka while returning to Lagos from Asaba, Delta State. The professor served as Dean of the Faculty between 2011 and 2015.
The pioneer set led by its President, Mr.Kayode Jackson described Oso as a rare breed, an astute communication scholar, teacher, and a mentor to many communication professionals.
The set in a statement joined the global communication family in mourning the popular university don who had impacted on the field of communication in the last three decades.
It said, “The 2006 alumni set condoles with his immediate family, particularly his wife and children, friends, the Vice Chancellor, LASU, the Dean, academic and non academic members of the Faculty of Communication and Media studies, former and current students and the entire Lasu Community on this great loss which has been described as a whole library drowned in water.
He will be fondly remembered for his fatherly disposition and his liberal approach to knowledge in communication studies and in his relationship with colleagues and students.”
