At Lagos-Ibadan Expressway near the New Garage area, a containerised truck (FST 887XD) was involved in a fatal accident leading to the death of a revenue collector.
The incident took place when the collector was attempting to collect dues from the truck driver, he was struck while crossing the expressway but the truck driver left the scene to avoid being arrested.
The wife was seen in agony when she rushed to the scene, personnel from LASTMA came to the scene to manage the situation after the incident while the remains of the man was handed over to the Security Officers of Adigboluje Police Division.
The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Baker-Oki extended his sympathies to the family of the victim as well as calling for immediate action from transport union leaders urging them to educate their members on the adopting safe methods when collecting dues mostly in expressways.
Mr Bakare stated, “This harrowing incident starkly highlights the critical need for enhanced safety measures in revenue collection processes, particularly on busy thoroughfares, We convey our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased during this grievous time.”
