It was a dream come through for Miss Favour Chiamaka Nwaze, an 18-year old student residing in Oshodi, who got admission into University of Benin, Edo State but could not afford the school fees because of the financial position of the family as the former Lagos State House of Assembly aspirant in Oshodi-Isolo constituency I, Hon. Adebanji Gbeleyi (Skibanj) offered her a scholarship.

The scholarship, according to Gbeleyi, covers school fees and other expenses throughout her course of study.

He said the scholarship was necessary to lessen the burden on the family, adding that there are many people in the community who need such assistance.

Gbeleyi said Nwaze was just fortunate that God used him to help her and the family.

He noted that there are many good people like him in Oshodi who could render such assistance, charging them to assist the poor in the community and putting everything to the government.

He particularly charged the wealthy members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to always portray the goodness of the party by rendering help to the needy in the community, saying they would attract more people to the party by doing so.

Appreciating the gesture, Miss Nwaze’s mother, Mrs. Mary Nwaze, who was shedding tears of joy, said she was not expecting the assistance.

According to her, being a family from Eastern part of the country, the highest they expected from Gbeleyi when they met him for assistance was to support them with part of the school fees but were surprised why he offered to take up the whole bills.

She said the family was grateful to its benefactor for giving their daughter a future.

The beneficiary, Miss Nwaze also promised to make her benefactor and the family proud by studying hard to be successful academically, saying she would reciprocate by impacting more lives.
