Residents of Eti-Osa are set to benefit from a fresh wave of opportunities as the Local Government, in partnership with the Federal Government of Nigeria’s Ministry of Education, has unveiled the “Eti-Osa Benefits” Federal Skill Acquisition Programme — an ambitious training scheme aimed at equipping citizens with practical, market-ready skills.
The initiative, launched under the Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) framework, is designed to close the gap between unemployment and employability, particularly among young people in Lagos State.

The programme offers a diverse range of training courses cutting across multiple industries:
Construction & Infrastructure: Painting, tiling, welding, electricals, bricklaying
Digital & Media: Computer repair, social media management, digital media
Technical & Automotive: Mechanics, vulcanising, panel beating
Specialised Trades: Plumbing, carpentry, upholstery, refrigeration
Renewable Energy: Solar installation, CNG conversion

Service & Creative Industry: Fashion, beauty, hospitality

Applicants are required to submit their full name, NIN, BVN, choice of trade or skill, and residential address to designated contact numbers, with the registration deadline set for tomorrow.

Unemployment and underemployment remain pressing issues in Eti-Osa, where many youths struggle with skills mismatch and reliance on low-income informal jobs. A 2024 study by Joseph Ayo Babalola University highlighted that entrepreneurship and vocational training are essential drivers of job creation and economic independence in the area.

By investing in practical trades and emerging industries like renewable energy and digital technology, the programme is expected to provide participants not only with immediate income opportunities but also with long-term resilience in a rapidly changing economy.

Eti-Osa Local Government has a history of empowerment initiatives, including previous collaborations with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) to support job creation. This latest scheme reinforces that legacy, aligning with Nigeria’s broader TVET initiative, which aims to make vocational training a cornerstone of national development.

The potential benefits of the programme are wide-ranging:
Job Creation through small business startups and skilled employment
Poverty Reduction by curbing dependence on unstable, low-wage work
Sustainability via training in agriculture and renewable energy
Social Development by boosting self-reliance and community growth

As Eti-Osa’s Executive Chairman, Omoba Adeola Adunmo Adeforo, emphasised, “This programme is about more than skills — it is about giving our people the tools to build their own future.”
For thousands of residents, the “Eti-Osa Benefits” initiative could prove to be the lifeline that transforms potential into prosperity.
