Epe Residents Commend LASG for Road, Drainage Upgrades

Relief is sweeping across Epe as residents applaud the Lagos State Government for transforming flood-prone communities with new roads and drainage systems under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration.
Once cut off by seasonal floods, areas like Araromi Road, Akinwale Street, and Amuni Street in Isale Agoro now boast completed drainage channels and upgraded road networks. Work is also ongoing at Abudu Street in the Popo Oba community, marking another milestone in the state’s urban renewal efforts.
Speaking with reporters, Mr. AbdulQudus Ademola, President of the Epetedo Community on Abudu Street, commended the government’s intervention, calling it “a real change in people’s lives.”
“We are truly grateful to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to improving living conditions,” Ademola said. “These areas were often flooded, trapping residents indoors. But with the new drainages, we can finally move freely and safely.”
He also praised Dr. Sanuth for facilitating the project and High Chief Odedeogboro for supporting its completion, describing them as “true champions of community progress.”
For years, Epe has battled poor drainage and erosion, disrupting transportation and local trade. The new projects, residents say, signal a turning point in the state’s effort to extend infrastructural development to all regions.
Urban experts note that the initiative aligns with Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader plan to enhance Lagos flood resilience, especially in low-lying communities like Epe, which sit along the rapidly expanding Lekki-Epe corridor.
With visible improvements and a renewed sense of hope, Epe residents say the era of wading through knee-deep water after every rainfall may finally be coming to an end — a tangible win for both the government and the people.
