Epe Local Government Area in Lagos State has formally inaugurated a new team of Supervisory Councillors, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants to support its strategic agenda.

This development is a significant push to strengthen local governance and accelerate development at the grassroots level.

The colourful swearing‑in ceremony took place at the council secretariat in Ita‑Marin, Epe, and was led by Princess Surah Animashaun, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, who described the event as a defining moment for her administration. She emphasised that the appointments signal a renewed commitment to effective, transparent, and people‑centred governance.

Addressing the freshly appointed officials, Animashaun congratulated them and charged them to view their roles not just as titles, but as opportunities to make a measurable difference in the lives of Epe residents. She reiterated her administration’s vision of driving sustainable community development, with a focus on infrastructure growth, youth and women empowerment, and enhanced quality of life across the local government.

The event drew senior political figures and governance experts. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and member of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council, lauded the chairman’s leadership style and urged the new team to uphold the highest standards of public service and accountability. His message underscored the importance of dedicated leadership at the grassroots level.

Among legislators who spoke at the ceremony was Wale Raji, the House of Representatives member for Epe Federal Constituency, who urged the appointees to justify the confidence placed in them by delivering tangible results aligned with national and state development priorities. Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe in the Lagos State House of Assembly, also called for collaboration and collective effort to sustain and deepen progress for the community.

The expanded leadership team is expected to drive key initiatives that support local priorities — from boosting essential services and upgrading infrastructure to fostering economic opportunities within Epe’s rich cultural and commercial landscape. The area, known for its thriving fishing communities and growing market activities, stands to benefit as governance becomes more responsive and innovative.

As the new appointees settle into their roles, Chairman Animashaun’s administration reiterated its resolve to ensure inclusive governance, one that delivers impactful programmes, strengthens community engagement, and improves the overall well‑being of residents in the Epe Local Government Area.
