Elders, stay away from salt, hard drugs – Akinde

The Medical Director of Living Spring Hospital and Maternity Home, Ejigbo, Dr Joseph Akinde, has advised the elderly ones under the platform of Senior Citizens Foundation in Ejigbo to avoid taking tobacco, alcohol and salt.

According to him, abiding by the rules would help them maintain healthy old age.

While enlightening the elderly ones during a health lecture and awareness campaign organised by the health committee of Senior Citizens Foundation, Ejigbo, the medical expert warned that continuous use of the substances may damage  important organs.

He said some of their organs are no more as healthy as they used to be when they were younger reiterating that failure to be cautious of what they eat may cause death or severe medical conditions.

Akinde said staying healthy requires taking nutritious food, ensuring food hygiene, having enough rest and doing exercise.

He advised them to ensure having regular medical checkup to know the state of their health for safety precautions to be taken in case of emergency.
