For returning a phone forgotten in his tricycle, Mr. Nwayaru Ezeaja was the proud recipient of N5,000 and a pledge of a brand new phone on Wednesday last week, thanks to the Secretary to the Local Government, Ejigbo LCDA, Mr. Paul Fregene.

Mr. Fregene’s wife had forgotten her  Samsung phone worth about N55,000 in Mr. Ezeaja’s tricycle following a trip from  Jakande Gate, Ejigbo to her residence at Bucknor.

When it was discovered that the phone was missing, the SLG said he immediately put a call through the lost phone and surprisingly Ezeja picked it and offered to  return it  immediately.

According to Fregene, “If all we see in the society is bad attitude, it may be difficult for our community to get better. But if we celebrate the good attitude like this in a society where virtually everybody is ready to take possession of another person’s properties, there would be motivation for others to emulate the good gesture,” he said.

In his account, Ezeajah  explained that he picked the woman around 8:45pm as lone passenger from Jakande Gate to her residence at Bucknor and went back to the park not knowing that the phone was in his Marwa.

He added that another passenger he picked did not also notice the phone in the tricycle because it was laid on the foot mat.He said he was at Ile-epo bus stop around 9:52pm when the phone rang and he picked it and told the caller to come and collect it.

Asked why he returned the phone, the driver, who claimed to be an author, said he was brought up to always see things that is not his own as not his own, the attitude which has been part of him all the way.

Ezeaja said he currently has no phone of his own but that would not lead him to take what belonged to somebody else’s.

Ezeaja, who said he is an agent of AIICO Insurance company resident of Alaafia Avenue Street, Ejigbo, explained that he only engaged in commercial riding  to feed his family
