Ejigbo LCDA has announced plans to resume its empowerment programme by providing seed fund and capital for ventures in transportation, sales and services.
Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) has promised to procure tricycles, container shops, generators, freezers and give residents to start businesses on their own.
While disclosing his new mode of empowerment programme, the chairman explained that the new empowerment scheme would cost the council about N440, 000 per individual including branded container with the LCDA logo, power generator, deep freezer and minerals for selling soft drinks.
The chairman said his administration has come up with branded empowerment materials for individuals having discovered that most of the beneficiaries of the previous empowerment programmes could not account for what were given to them as some of them sold out the materials instead of using them for their own businesses.
He disclosed that the council has ordered for tricycles and mini bus known as ‘kore’ which would be branded with the LCDA logo to prevent them from being harassed by any traffic agencies demanding money.
He said each of the tricycles and buses would be delivered to each ward to do transportation business by February 2020.
Bello further promised to give other smaller empowerment materials to the deserving who have not got any before.
The chairman also revealed plan for the people for festive period celebration, stating that there would be distribution of rice and meat to the members of the community for Christmas celebration.
