Ejigbo Legislative Arm Proposes Bills To Curb Mischief

Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) stakeholders witnessed a significant event as the Legislative Council proposed bills for bye-laws to curb mischief within the community.

Legislative House Leader Mr. Olanrewaju Akinbowale stated that these bye-laws aim to guide community members toward appropriate behavior. He explained that the Legislative Council is responsible for safeguarding the government’s position while protecting citizens’ interests through law-making.

Bye-laws, as rules or laws established by local authorities, serve to regulate citizens’ actions and manage local affairs.

Guest speaker Mr. Ladi Ajomale, a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, highlighted legislators’ primary duties: representation, maintaining checks and balances, and law-making.
The bills are not yet laws but have been proposed for stakeholders to review and suggest amendments.

Following this, a stakeholder meeting will be convened for necessary adjustments before they become law. Community members are encouraged to study the bill thoroughly, as it pertains to all aspects of community life.

As part of the plan, customary courts in Local Government and Local Council Development Areas will be revitalized to ensure that those who violate the law are prosecuted.

Dr. Stephen Oyinlola, Chief Imam, Dr. Mukail Sanni, cabinet members, management members, past political office holder, political leaders, senior citizen, C.D.C Executives, market men and women, artisans and other members of the community.
