By Olushola Okewole

Notorious for harbouring miscreants, under-aged prostitutes and drug addicts, agbole, the legendary dark spot off Moshalashi street fell to the mechanical sway of caterpillars of the Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Wednesday in a move which the chairman Hon. Monsuru Bello (Obe) described as necessary for the safety of the neighbourhood.
The council chairman, who personally supervised the demolition, was accompanied by the chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), Mr. Jelili Atiku and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Olabisi Okuwobi.
According to the chairman, the action was necessary to stop criminals from neighbouring towns from turning the spot into a den of danger and reduce the pressure posed to the community by criminal activities.
He said residents of the community had to form vigilante committees in recent times to defend their families from the negative acts of miscreants.
Some of the buildings used as hideouts by the hoodlums in Ejigbo are located at Pipeline Street, Erinfolami Street, Odofin Compound and sex hawkers’ shanties at Moshalasi Street.
They were all demolished as a measure to guard against the attacks on the residents and to restore peace tothe community.
