In a decisive step towards addressing climate change in Ejigbo LCDA, Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello, the council’s administrator, has pledged his commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Acknowledging the urgency of tackling climate change to safeguard the environment and ecosystem, Bello has aligned the council’s objectives with the international community’s call to action.
By adhering to the tenets outlined in the Paris Agreement, the council aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve biodiversity, and ultimately, create a greener, more sustainable Ejigbo LCDA.
Ejigbo Council chairman emphasized: “Solar-powered streetlights have grown in popularity as a sustainable and energy-efficient lighting solution for public areas. Along with being environmentally friendly, these lights are safe and cost-effective, hence the decision to adopt solar streetlights on government roads and streets to improve the safety of our environment at night and reduce operating costs”.
The monumental event at Adebayo Osho Street witnessed a congregation of esteemed councilors from the six geopolitical wards. Among them was Mrs. Grace Nwankwo, the representative of Ifoshi ward, adding prestige to the occasion with her presence. The installation of street lighting marked an important step in the council’s commitment to providing safety and security to its residents.
